Kristina Werner Challenge

I wanted to do Kristina Werner's color challenge and made this card a couple of day ago, but I know it's missing something dramatic..... can't quite figure it out, but time's up so I'm posting anyway. the flowers were made by daubing on Pumpkin pie on the flower center, then pretty in pink on the petals and a little Rose Red on the ends of the petals. I used a color not in the challenge and daubed on some Old Olive for the stems and leaves. The card base is Pumpkin Pie and some stripes of Rose Red on the side with a Pretty in Pink butterfly from the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set. The flower were then covered with crystal effects glue to make them stand out and shine. Also on the side, the flowers were mounted on Rose Red cardstock, where I punched out the right side using the Scallop Edge Punch.
Are you all ready for the NEW SPRING/SUMMER catalog?????? I can hardly wait to order; I want the Texturize plates in the worst way..... Maybe the next time I post on the color challenge I will have my plates.... I LOVE that lookd!!!!!!
Enjoy!!!

Birthday Card

My Father-in-Law is going to think I'm nuts!!!! For his Birthday, I made this card, LOL.
I adhered several layers of cardstock onto the Night of Navy card base. I used Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, then added a piece of Jersey Shore DSP (retired). Before I actually adhered the top three layers, I tied Night of Navy 1/4" grosgrain ribbon around it about 2/3 down from the top. Then I cut two small pieces of 1/4" grosgrain ribbon (Night of Navy and More Mustard) and tied the two small pieces next to the original knot.
Using the "Sock Monkey" stamp set, I stamped three monkeys on watercolor paper using black StazOn ink (so it wouldn't run when I watercolored it). Then I stamped three hats on the water color paper. Using my "Aquapainter", I then colored in the monkey using Close to Cocoa for the monkey and Real Red for his mouth. Then I colored in the hats and alternated the colors for one of the hats. I used Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Night of Navy Classic Ink Pads. I used my 1 1/4" Circle punch to punch out the monkeys, then the 1 3/8" Circle punch to cut out three Night of Navy circles. I adhered the two circles together, then onto the card front evenly across. I cut out the hats using my snips and attached to the top of the money, then punched out three small circles using my 1/4" circle punch for the tops of the hats. I stamped the BIG Celebrate from the Celebrate Everything stamp set underneath the ribbon.
We'll see what he says when he gets it!! LOL

Dry Embossed Square

I was watching one of Kristine Werner's videos and how she made this cute card. It is so basic, simple and CLEAN.
My card is 4 1/4 square, so I cut out 4 1/4 X 8 1/2 and folded in half. then I cut out another square from scraps 4 1/4 X 4 1/4. Then using a blade and a ruler, I cut a 3" square out of the middle. Using the outside piece, I placed it on top of my card front, turned it over and dry embossed the square using my stylus until the square was "sharp". When I turned the card over, I ended up with a square section. I didn't have any bashful blue taffeta ribbon so I made some. I cut out enough of the white ribbon to go around my card, then I used my bashful blue re-inker and put several drops in a small amount of water and dyed the ribbon. It dries really fast and you can even use your Heat Tool to help it along. I cut out a square of 2 1/2 X 2 1/2 Whisper White cardstock and stamped the butterfly from Flight of the Butterfly towards the top in bashful blue ink. Then using my Two Way Glue I put a dab on each flower in the butterfly and sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds on. It is soo cute. Then I tied the "dyed" ribbon around the 2 1/2" square and adhered to the front of the embossed square on the card front. That's all there is to it. So simple and easy. Give it a try, it gives a really classy look to your cards.

Another Big Shot Card

I needed to make a Thank You card for my aunt, and again decided to use my Big Shot. First of all, I adhered some Bella Rose DSP to the Riding Hood Red cardstock used as the base of my card. Then I took scraps of Riding Hood Red and punched a pattern using a Non-Stamping stamp along the edges, then adhered those to another piece of Bella Rose DSP and adhered to the front of the card. Next, using my BIG SHOT and the Sizzlits Die, Swirls Scribbles, I cut out three pieces in Close to Cocoa. I took the big section after the "pieces" were removed and cut around the "negative" with my snips making the main pattern on the left. Then I took the largest two pieces that I had previously removed and adhered them next to the bigger piece and then I used two of the small swirls and came on around the top. Then using the Birds & Blooms large flower Sizzlit die, I punched out the largest flower from Riding Hood Red cardstock. Using the Birds and Blooms Flower Pieces Sizzlit die, I cut out the largest flower from that in Pirouette Pink cardstock, the smaller flower in Regal Rose cardstock and the two leaves in garden green cardstock. I folded the leaves length-wise in half and ran them through my crimper to give them some dimension. I punched a small hole in the center of the three flowers and inserted a medium pink rhinestone brad from the Fire Circles set and adhered on top of the "scribbles" pieces with a Mini Glue Dot. I attached the leaves under the flower edges, also using a mini glue dot. On the right side of the card, I stamped the Thank You using my "Wow Flowers" stamp set using Riding Hood Red ink. Then I punched out a small flower with my "Three for You" punch and inserted a "small" pink rhinestone brad from the Fire Circles set.
I think it came out really cute and different. I'm loving all the 3-D effects the BIG SHOT gives you.

Big Shot Basket

I have had so much fun playing with my big shot; I can't believe how easy it is to use. The Baskets and Blooms Bigz Die has not only the basket, but also several flowers and flower stems and a tag. The cool thing about the Bigz Dies is that you only have to cut what you want out the die. You just place your paper on the parts that you need so you don't waste a lot of paper in the process.

The amazing thing with the Big Shot is that you can cut from 50 different materials. I haven't put it together yet, but I cut this basket out from felt and am going to sew it together for a cute little girl purse. If you put (can't remember what it's called) the adhesive iron on material on the back of your material, you can iron on flowers and glue on accessories (rhinestones). There's just no end to what you can do.

This basket was cut using the Textured Bashful Blue Cardstock. then before I put it together, I punched circles out of the handle using my Cropadile. Then on the bottom I dry embossed circles, also using my Cropadile.

The tag was made using the Build A Flower Bigz Die. There are two flowers, one is adhered to the other and then attached to a 1 3/4" circle punched with the new punch from the Fall/Winter catalog. The tag is tied onto the handle through one of the holes with 1/2" Real Red striped grosgrain ribbon. I also stamped the "I heart U" stamp from "A Happy Heart" onto Whisper White cardstock and cut around it and adhered it to the front of the flowers on the tag.

If you aren't aware, the Holiday Mini Catalog will expire on 1-18-09. There are two Valentines sets in this catalog that may not be available again; one of these being the "A Happy Heart" that I used the saying from. Check it out and let me know if you want anything from this catalog before the 18th!!

Happy Stamping!!!
