I decided to try Kristina Werner's color inspiration today. I really liked how it turned out and I absolutely love the color combination. What do you think?

Halloween Decorations

I've seen lots of blow up Holiday figures, but I've never ever seen VERY LARGE blow up spiders.
I thought these spiders were the cutest ever. there are actually 5 spiders on the roof, one of them is turquoise. I would love to find out how REALLY big they are, but they sure caught my eye when I first saw them.
I took my husband kicking and screaming to look at them last weekend and he actually admitted he loved them. The people in the house probably thought I was really weird since I got out of my car and walked around the edge of their yard and took several pictures or decided I was like the rest of the "lookie lees" they've seen out there too!! LOL When I got closer, I realized that one of the yard ornaments is a frankenstein riding a Harley; how cute is that???? It's amazing how Halloween has changed since I was a kid. We were lucky to have a pumpkin with candle outside; now it's such a big event with so many fun decorations, it's hard not to get caught up with it.

I found this cute Lollipop Holder and just had to try it myself. The Box is a clear card box designed to hold cards with envelopes; however, it can also be used to create all sorts of other neat things. This is pretty easy to make, it just takes time.
Since it's too late for a Halloween class, I thought this would be a really cute Christmas project for a stocking stuffer.

Big Shot Cards

If these look familiar they are, I copied the card shown on the flyer for the Big Shot, lol. It was really fun to make and so easy. This uses the following dies: The scallop circle bigz die and then I cut the designer paper also using this same die and cut it in half to adhere to the full circle. Then I used the Bird w/Leaves and Flower bigz die to get the bird and the leaves. Instead of cutting twice I just positioned the chocolate chip and kiwi kiss cardstock on each section of the die. I tied the tafetta riding hood red ribbon around the scallop circle and attached the leaves with snail and added the bird with a dimensional. then I placed one of the new designer buttons on the bird after tying some hemp twine through the holes. Did you know you can cut over 50 materials with the big shot? I decided to copy what I had just done, but I found some material I had laying around and cut the bird out and the flower from the same Die. It gives it a really soft look when theare side by side. I noticed after I adhered it to the card that it is a little crooked though.
The last card is using the Bigz Die for the scallop circle again, then I used the Bigz Die with the Scallop Circle #2 with the two smaller scallops and adhered them together. Then I used the Join in the Cheer Decorative Strip Die to cut out the words "Joy" and "Love". I used the Birds and Blooms Sizzlits Die 4-Pack to cut the small bird and wings.
I will have more ideas soon.

kwerner challenge

I have never done a challenge before, but thought I would try this time because i LOVE polka dots. I used a retired set from the Three for You Punch box for the polka dots stamp on whisper white CS and embossed using the white embossing powder, then used the Big Shot to cut out the letters using the Naturally Serif Sizzlets Decorative strip die. I used a sponge dauber to color each of the letters with the challenge then punched out of the strip. I used some of the felt flowers from the last campaign and set up on dimensionals and attached apricot appeal ribbon to the chocolate chip paper embossed with white embossing powder using the canvas background stamp.

Mini Gift Box

This little box is so cute and very easy to make. It is made to look like a book and holds a Ghirardelli Chocolate square perfectly. I was just playing with this so I was using retired paper (berry bliss). This is decorated using the scallop circle punch, the 1 3/8" circle Punch and the 1 1/4" circle punch on the top to hold the stamped image of the mouse from Happy Heart Day. The ticket punch was used on the designer paper for the top. I used velcro to hold the strap to the top and decorated the top using a "half" pearl from the pretties kit.
I'm not sure how I haven't eaten the chocolate yet, but it's calling.

I've been "BOO'd"

The other night the dogs were going crazy by the front door, so I went to check it out and saw that I'd been BOO'd. There was a cute halloween sack on my doorstep with candy in it, YUM!! some of my most favorites were in there. The instructions inside the sack said that I needed to copy the poem and the BOO signs and return the fun to three more of my neighbors. Since I make cards, I don't buy cards..... I couldn't very well go buy sacks to put on someone else's doorstep, so I remembered all the cute Frankensteins, Mummy, Witches and Draculas and decided I would change the size a bit and make Frankenstein sacks. I used a small lunch bag and cut it down to 6". Then I cut my Old Olive cardstock to fit on the front and back, so I think it measured 5 1/4 X 6". Then I cut a piece of Lovely Lilac to fit the top of the sack for his hair and hand cut the hair in jagged pieces. The eyes are made using the 1 3/8" circle punch and the 1" circle punch. The eyelids and nose were also made using the 1 3/8" circle punch. I drew the mouth and scar with my black marker and wrote BOO on the hair. Now I'm ready to deliver to a friendly neighbor tonight.

Snowing in October

Last week the temperature in Boise was in the 90's; check out what happened Friday of this last week. The snow was gorgeous because the flakes were sooooo big, but if you will notice, all the trees are still green and everything is still leafed out, so when the little bit of snow we got fell on the branches, some of the tree branches were getting really close to the ground. Looking at the forcast for this next week, it looks we are heading back up to the 60's and 70's with lows at night in the 40's and 50's. What strange weather!!
