Good Morning, I had to make a birthday card for a friend and decided to use my alphabet set "Big Deal". I started out with the bordering blue, always artichoke and more mustard colors, but when they all went together, it looked sooooo masculine. I love the card though. I thought it looked a little plain so I added another element, but I'm not sure it's any better. Again, it was still way too masculine. I know know my friend likes pink, so I picked out the brightest pinks I could and then instead of colored brads, I used the fire Rhinestone Brads in the pink color. I think this turned out really cute. this is really a simple and fast card to make. I love the twill tape to stamp part of the message on. Have a nice day, it's off to work I go!!!

I told you I had another club night this month and thought I would post some of the Challenge cards the members from that night came up with using the brilliant blue, bashful blue, pumkin pie and Whisper White. Mine is this first one using the Great Grads Stamp Set and Jersey Shore designer series paper.. (hope this stays in the new catalog).

The next three cards are what were entered into the contest and the second one using "Doodle This" by LeeAnn Herker was the winner. Don't you agree they ALL deserved to win?

Some of the girls also brought other cards they had made using these same color combinations to show. I think they did such a good job.

I'm still trying to get ready for convention and making my swaps.... I may have to change my original thoughts and come up with something that I can make enmass instead of having to design every 12 or so from old unused card sets. LOL. I'm anxious to see what is coming out in the new catalog that maybe I can use that will be fun. Our Stampadelicious Group is having a Shoebox Swap on the 30th during convention and we all are to put together enough supplies and accessors for 35 full cards. Convention is going to be sooo much fun this year and having only been to one before, I'm anxious to see how this compares.
I'm trying to also to turn over a new leaf and try to post some of my projects more often; so keep coming back to see what I'm doing (right now I'm staying in the house because 103 degrees is just TOO HOT for me :)
Well, I'm off to making more swaps......... See ya later

RETIRED STAMP SETS

Oh My!!!!!! I can't believe all the REALLY FUN stamp sets that are retiring with the Spring/Summer Catalog. I think the biggest shock is probably that I have almost 25 of them; some of my most favorites. I'm always so disappointed and sad when I see they are going. I have attached a link to the "alphabetical" listing, but if you want to go to http://www.janetelam.stampinup.net, you will be able to see both lists. The retired accessories list won't be coming out until 7-21-08 and all of the wheels, as well as the "accessories" will be listed then. PROBABLY, the wheels that go WITH some of the stamp sets, like the Lilly Pad that goes with UNFROGETTABLE will also be retiring, but that's just a guess. WATCH FOR UPCOMING SPECIALS I WILL BE OFFERING for the retiring stamp sets!!!!!!

Stamp Club Challenge

I CHALLENGED my club members to make
a card and bring to class using the Pumpkin Pie, Brilliant Blue, Bashful Blue and White colors. They could use any layout they wanted. The cards were all really cute. We then voted on the one that everyone liked the best and that person won some free Stampin' Up product from me. The winner was the card using the "Loads of Love" stamp set. Don't you think they were all really cute? I have another club night at the end of the month, so I'm really anxious to see what they will do with these colors. Next month the girls have a "layout" challenge to play with.

Convention Swaps

With convention coming up quickly, I decided I needed to start working on swaps. I pulled out OLD card packages left over from workshops and decided to use the materials already cut, but to change out stamp sets and accessories to use only the now current product and that will hopefully still be current after the new Fall/Winter catalog arrives in August. This is a real challenge to myself.... because I'm a world famous copier as I want my cards and projects to be super cute. So, I put my little brain to work to come up with some ORIGINAL ideas using these old packages. Notice the ribbon I used on the "One of a Kind" set. This is a small strip of cardstock that I rubbed along a sharp edge to break up the fibers so it was somewhat flexible. I used a lot of strips before I actually was able to "tie" 12 strips. This is a fun alternative for using ribbon and gives your card a whole different look. These are what I've come up with so far, so let me know if you like them. I also copied a notecard box and 4 small notecards from another blog that I think are absolutely gorgeous. This will be a really fun gift for anyone for their birthday or other occassion. If you would like to hold a workshop to make this really cute project contact me.
If you hold a workshop in June that totals $400.00 in merchandise, you will receive the Fresh Cuts stamp set (Preview set from the Fall/Winter catalog) and 15 laser cut notecards free in addition to your regular hostess benefits.
This June promotion lets you order or earn this stamp set this month only.... after that you will have to wait till August to order it from the new catalog. So, if you want it now to use all summer be sure to contact me.... even if you just want to submit an order for this set without holding a workshop.
